The purity in the thoughts develops the detachment in  parts of body  of self and the contact with the body of others. /40/.
Meditation support:  View point of Step 40: -

With the purification of  body parts, the  self support becomes detachment from it, in the same way the contact with others.
Purity in thoughts support the body and senses and create aversion in sensual pleasures and contact with other people by seeing, hearing, speaking, smelling and touching. Purity in thoughts support in deeper meditation in conscious mind.  The purity in thoughts reveals the impure nature of the physical body. The purity in thoughts also reveals the nature of the physical body. The purity in thoughts also reveals the nature of the decaying physical organisms of the body. Such a revelation leads to a feeling of disgust for the decay prone physical body. The purity in thoughts also creates a disinclination in the mind to have physical contacts with the bodies of others. It is on the cultivation and disciplining of purity in thoughts of one’s body that disgust about the filth of one’s body gets felt and experienced.

When purity in thoughts is developed consciously, one feels and experiences a desire not to have physical contact with the bodies of others that are perishable. It is on the cultivation of the discipline of purity in thoughts that the disciple of meditation support starts feeling renunciation towards his own body. His affection and aversion for his own body as well as his affection and aversion for the bodies of others get broken and disconnected. Discipline of purity in thoughts is the first rung on the meditation support ladder . When the disciple of meditation support cultivates the discipline of purity in thoughts and stabilizes and perfects it in the depth of his conscious mind, his connection with his own body’s gross parts gets broken. The result is that he starts feeling light.

He also starts feeling himself separated from his own body. He starts feeling himself as a separate and distinct entity from his own body. It is for this reason that his affection and aversion, which the parts and parts of his own body had established with the parts and parts of the bodies of others, become meaningless. It is then that physical relationships become devoid of meaning. It is on the stabilization of the discipline of purity in thoughts and its practice that the disciple of meditation support crosses beyond the gross living and non-living possessions including his own body and senses. When the discipline of purity in thoughts becomes firmly grounded, the yogi’s concentration turn towards the thoughts of his internal conscious mind. It is after the disciple of meditation support cultivates, disciplines and perfects the discipline of purity in thoughts that this concentration starts getting focused on the thoughts of his own internal conscious mind. This is the first step towards the attainment of knowledge of meditation support

Practice is to be continually carried on to restrain and nullify the impure thoughts during the practice of knowledge of meditation support. This practice is not possible without cultivating, disciplining, perfecting and stabilizing the body by adherence to the rules and regulations pertaining to purity in thoughts. Non-observance of the rules and regulations will make the entire exercise futile. It will not be possible to make the body stable and static without scrupulously following the code of rules. When a disciple of meditation support craves for the enjoyment of external material things, and for bodies of other people and harbors affection or enmity towards them his concentration gets focused on the external material things and the bodies of other people and this increase impurity in thoughts of unconscious mind.

At the time of impurity in thoughts, his concentration shifts its focus on the parts of his own body and gets focused on the material things and bodies of other people. When this happens the yogi’s own unconscious mind getting impure. His body starts getting immersed in the form and shape of distress of nature’s sluggish and inactive attribute. It becomes impure and unclean. When the disciple of meditation support enjoys the external material things and people, he does so through the medium of his own body and senses. During this enjoyment, his concentration remains focused within his own body. When this happens and when such a state arises the yogi’s own body becomes impure. .

When the yogi focusing his concentration into his own pure mind, does not think of external material things and people, he does not get the feel of those external material things and people. Whatever he feels and experiences is only the purity. It is at this stage that the disciple of meditation support adopts the distress free form of nature’s melodious and illumination attribute. It is at this stage that he becomes free from the fruits of karma actions and also becomes pure and clean. The Great sage  say that when a living being is confined to his own physical body, he nurtures a desire to keep contact with the bodies of other people. When a living being consciously becomes body free i.e. when he sheds the coil of attraction or aversion for his body, his desire to have contact with the physical bodies of other people automatically gets eliminated.

In order to achieve concentration, it is necessary to descend in to the conscious mind that is beyond body parts. In order to descend into the mind, it is of paramount necessity to cultivate practice, discipline and perfect the discipline of purity in thoughts. The cultivation of the discipline of purity in thoughts entails that the disciple’s own body and the bodies of other people and the things which he is to use for eating, drinking and wearing clothes and living are kept in a state of absolute purity in thoughts. Food, clothing and shelter of the disciple must be absolutely clean and pure. The bodies of other living being with whom he comes into contact must also be absolutely pure and clean. Things which he is to use for his day-to-day-life, the material possessions which he is to enjoy, the living and the non-living things which he is to enjoy as per his lingering past subliminal impressions, also, must be in a state of absolute purity in thoughts. His relationship with friends, acquaintances and enemies and the society in which he is to live, the social and religious life, which he is to lead, must also be pure in thoughts.
