View point 54:- . The Pratayahara is the withdrawal of the concentration from the organs of action and senses of thinking and directing it to opposite direction of conscience that is true self .Really it is the conscience that decides where the concentration is to be fixed. If the conscience draw its concentration to the any worldly object, true self is drawn to this object and witness it. If the conscience draws its concentration to organs of action, true self is drawn to it. If the conscience draw its concentration in thought process , true self fixes itself in unconscious mind. When conscience fix its concentration in unconscious mind , conscience become of its lack of spiritual knowledge. If conscience fix its concentration in true self , it disappear itself in spiritual knowledge of true self . Pratayahara is consciously withdrawing concentration of conscience from organs of action and thought process of unconscious mind toward its Source that is true self. When the senses of organs of action and perception of unconscious mind are no longer in contact with their object of matter world, they come to resemble the inhibited conscience. This is what constitutes obstruction or canalizations of conscience. When the senses function spontaneously in complete harmony with the inherent intelligence without being drawn into contact with their objects by cravings or false evaluation, they attain psychological freedom. Such a freedom is a source of energy since it is effortless and does not involve movement of energy. Obstruction or withdrawal of the concentration toward its Source occurs when concentration of organs of action and senses of perception gets merged in the form of the conscience itself. It occurs when concentration of conscience connection with the senses, no longer remains intact. The discipline of the withdrawal of concentration toward its Source is the fifth limb of yoga. It is when the connection of one’s intellect gets disconnected from organs of action and thought process of unconscious mind becomes one with the conscience. It is then that the discipline of withdrawal of concentration toward its Source starts getting cultivated. The Great Guru says that the knowledge of subjects and objects or knowledge of issues and knowledge of organs of action, lies in the sense thoughts of the unconscious mind that is exterior part of conscience. It is with the cultivation, disciplining and perfection of the discipline of breathing control that the concentration of the conscience gets fixed. The senses of action keep conveying the flow of thoughts in respect of known subjects and keeps on flowing in the unconscious mind get fixed. It is in this way that the organs of action and through them the thoughts regarding known issues, subjects or objects which keeps on floating in the unconscious mind, gets into the grasp of concentration of conscience. It is then that these thoughts start getting controlled by the concentration of conscience in Pratayahara. Thereafter, the concentration of conscience starts floating with the thoughts of the subjects or objects or issues of one’s liking and choice. These very senses and their subjects or objects or issues and the state of thoughts of the concentration of conscience are called obstruction or withdrawal of the concentration toward its Source in Pratayahara. During the practice of the discipline of withdrawal of the concentration toward its Source in Pratayahara, innumerable thoughts of their subjects and objects and issues, do not get eliminated. On the contrary they get steadied in the mind. Concentration of conscience by catching hold of one of these and focusing its concentration on one of its subjects or objects or issues of its liking, starts thinking about it. This is called abstraction or withdrawal of the concentration toward its Source, which is the fifth Pratayahara limb of yoga. In the discipline of abstraction or withdrawal of the concentration toward its Source of Pratayahara, one is to be liberated from the cravings of thoughts. One is to become detached from organs of action. One is to become disconnected from the innumerable thoughts, which keep on moving at random in the unconscious mind. One is to be free from affection, enmity and fear of cravings. One is not to get free from the flow of thoughts. One is to practice only to free one-self from the cravings of the thoughts. It is with the cultivation of the discipline of abstraction or withdrawal of the concentration toward its Source of Pratayahara that the five senses which cause a person to perform karma actions and are engaged in the act of thinking and are engaged in having cravings, get under disciple’s controlled.
