Insight vision on original yoga thesis12: - The end of these movements of thought in the state of mind comes by the practice and the absence of the effect attraction. The practice and not to be under the effect of attraction finishes this state of mind carrying the movements of the thought. The practice and the not-reaction to attraction are required to finish the state of mind carrying the movements of the thought. The methods to order the movements of the thought of the state of mind is to practice and not to be under the effect of the attraction of these thought. The ordering of these thought of the state of mind as discussed in the thesis of yoga 6 11, must be caused by the repeated practice and through not being under the effect of attraction. A practice (
Abhyasa)
refers to a way that something is done. Practice is also something that is
done with the deliberate aim of learning. Practice is the act of repeating
something over and It goes without saying that once we have attraction to something, the
effect qualities of our nature and ego manifest. Sometimes that attraction
give positive effect, sometimes negative effect. We have to look at things
from their positive wffect as well as their negative effectt. When
attraction has negative effect it is limiting; when attraction has positive
effectit is freeing. It gives a different vision of things. Positive
attraction is known as non-attachment, acceptance of situations without
reacting negatively to them. Some people conclude meaning of
vairagya like
non-attachment. Correctly
vairagya meaning is
not to be under the effect of attraction
The thought activities of the state of mind can be controlled and
bring to end through
constant practice and
not to be under the effect of attraction.. The vagaries of
the movements of thought of state of mind can
be halted by repeated practice and not to be under the effect of
attraction and by withdrawing the sense organs from the
enjoyment of sensate objects of pleasure. Putting a end to the flow of thought and barricading their invasion is called yoga. In the
practice and not to be under the effect of attraction of yoga,
repeated, sustained and relentless practice are required to be made
to halt the flow of thoughts. Thought of state of mind are usually full to the brim with countless
the effect of attraction and
endless cravings. These thought revolve around the fulfillment of those
effect of attraction . They also contemplate the further enjoyment of sensual pleasures
and pleasures of the world. The thought are full of the waves of
cravings and temptations for the
effect of the attraction. The waves of enjoyment of sensual pleasures are
in the form of lingering impressions of past actions. They are also
in the form of future seed karma actions. They keep on hovering and
floating on the upper layer of the state of mind called unconscious
state of mind . The thought of enjoyment of worldly pleasures makes a human being’s state of
mind
inclined towards
to be under the effect of attraction. Such thought generate keen interest in the human being’s state of mind towards their enjoyment. It further leads to hunger and thirst for worldly pleasures. Attraction and repulsion become the subject matter of his thoughts. The thought also lead him to under the effect of attraction of greed for wealth, name and fame and with such an inclination and bent of state of mind , his unconscious state of mind gets debased. Due to the preponderance of his base thoughts, he either undergoes acute suffering or enjoys pleasures of the material world. The exposition of the Great Sage says that the technique to end the vagaries of state of mind and the flow of thought does not lie in making physical end to them. The technique lies in withdrawing the thought from the effect of attraction of the pleasures of the senses and then diverting them towards an inward direction. Really on being challenged, the
thought of unconscious state of mind do not end . Instead they become more
rebellious and create turmoil in the unconscious state of mind . As long as there is
sorrow in the thought, it cannot be emptied of its content. Neither can
such a thought be tolerated nor can it be calmed. Hence it becomes
impossible to end the flow of a sorrow provoking thought. Most of these
thought are related to real of fancied sorrows. If a disciple tries to
suppress the thought pertaining to the enjoyment of sensual pleasures, it
also does not get suppressed. On the contrary, it too becomes stormy and
gets inflamed. In the process the unconscious state of mind becomes all the more
restless. If the disciple is to end the thought of enjoyment of
sensual pleasures, he has to repeatedly end them. He is to empty his
thought of their subject matter whether it is sorrow or the enjoyment of
sensual pleasures. Non-fulfillment of effect of attraction and cravings tends to
multiply them. Effect of attraction are never satisfied by the
physical enjoyment of objects of
desire. They keep on growing, as does the fire when fuel is added to it. It is not possible to forcibly erase
the thought of enjoyment of sensual pleasures. It is also not possible to
eliminate such thought without first emptying it of its subject
matter. The problem of ending the flow of thought is similar to the
problem of the egg and the hen. If a disciple wants to kill the hen, he
cannot do so as another hen gets born in its egg. In case he kills the egg
fetus, the hen lays another egg. As such the Great Sage guides the
disciple to kill and destroy the hen and the egg together. He exhorts the
disciple to make constant and repeated practice and not to be under the
effect of attraction with patience, perseverance
and determination and over a long period of time. With constant practice
and not to be under the effect of attraction
and sustained practice, the process is to be continued till both are killed
together. The technique of killing them both simultaneously is not to be
physically followed but its thought is to be practiced in the conscious
state of mind with concentration of sense organs. The great Sage says that a disciple is
to make his unconscious state of mind temptation craving free, by repeatedly
stopping the flow of his thoughts. He further says that in order to end
the flow of thoughts, the disciple is to have complete knowledge of the
thought passing through his state of mind . This knowledge is to be experienced and
felt through repeated practice and not to be under the effect of
attraction and by following the method of ending the flow of
thoughts. Thought of unconscious state of mind and the temptation of enjoying
sensual pleasures are to be ended again and again. The state of mind has to be
emptied of thought relating to the enjoyment of sensual pleasures. Such
thought are to be uprooted from the unconscious state of mind . They have to be
banished and eliminated through constant practice and not to be under the
effect of attraction . The unconscious state of mind
has to be detached and de-linked from them. After these thought are
emptied of their content, they have to be eradicated with continuous
practice and not to be under the effect of attraction . The great Sage tells the disciple that
endless thought and countless cravings breed flourish in the outer layer
of the unconscious state of mind . It is impossible for the unconscious
f state of mind to end
these thoughts. These thought are created and generated in a formless
shape by a person’s intellect. This being the case thought can only be
emptied from their subject matter which is the enjoyment of sensual
pleasures and cravings by the use of his intellect alone. The technique of
ending the flow of thought lies hidden inside the knowledge of the
conscious state of mind . With the help of this knowledge, the
state of mind is to be told
and directed to develop detachment from worldly things thoughts. The state
of mind
is also to be told and directed to calm down these destabilizing
inflammable thought before completely ejecting them out. For this,
thought are to be made peaceful. The waves and scattered modifications of
the state of mind are gradually to be eliminated and the state of
mind made peaceful, stable
and happy. It appears difficult in the beginning
to comprehend and practice and not to be under the effect of attraction
.. It is,
however, possible to make an entry into one’s deeper conscious state of mind
through sustained practice and not to be under the effect of attraction . Hence the aspirant is advised to tread the
path with patience, perseverance and tenacity. He is to keep on making
repeated practice and not to be under the effect of attraction . He is further advised to take help of verbal thought. He
is also advised to strengthen his detachment and dispassion thought in
order to end the flow of thoughts. He is advised to disconnect his
thinking process from the sensate objects of pleasure. He is to de-link
his conscious state of mind from the enjoyment of sensual pleasures. A regular and
constant practice and not to be under the effect of attraction of this technique is bound to prove fruitful in the long
run. The conscious state of mind is bound to attain a completely thought-free
state. If by chance a thought creeps in and starts invading the
unconscious state of mind , the aspirant is to immediately and consciously de-link
his thinking process from the invading thought by detaching them from the
object of thought. When the disconnected thought echoes
in the cosmic system of interior nature essence, the conscious state of mind
becomes a renouncing about worldly pains and pleasures. The thought start
getting emptied of their content and finally the thought start dyeing out
by it. thought are not to be killed at times the state of mind feels not inclined
to kill these thoughts. On being stopped, the state of mind at times, does not
end
to kill them. It is only on attaining spiritual knowledge of the state of mind that the state of
mind is to be taught the method of
eliminating its thoughts. What is the connection between the
halting of the physical enjoyment of sensual pleasures and their
renunciation thoughts? There is no relationship between the two. The
physical enjoyment of sensual pleasures is not to be stopped. One’s
practice and not to be under the effect of attraction to become rich are not to be stopped. Love for name and fame is
not to be shunned. Lust is not to be given up. Physical attachment and
aversions
are not to be set-aside. All these are result-oriented physical karma
actions and are connected with lingering past karma impressions. They are
to be consciously and uninterruptedly enjoyed with pleasure and without
any guilt complex arising from the thought of virtue or sin, merit or
demerit and right or wrong. This world is meant for enjoyment of
life, to be enjoyed fully, widely and with gay. Whatever pleasures one is
to enjoy, one is to enjoy without restraint abandon. One is only to be
careful and cautious that one does not get caught in the clutches of the
worldly legal law. One is also to be circumspect in not becoming a cause
of unhappiness to other living beings. Whatever the conscious state of mind feels
and realize and whatever its inclinations and natural tendencies are, one
is not to shun the physical enjoyment of sensual pleasures. Human being is
to enjoy them to their last degrees. What the Great Sage preaches is that
one is to remain in a state of conscious renunciation and detachment in
conscious state of mind To end thought while enjoying life and its appetizing
pleasures. The Great Sage says that human being
instead of living in the present is always contemplating living in the
future. He says that a person should give up the temptation of thinking
about future enjoyment of sensual pleasures. Instead he is to enjoy the
pleasures available in the present and get satiated. He is to quench his
thirst and satisfy his hunger for these pleasures in the present. After
their enjoyment and his satiation, he should say good-bye to these
pleasures. The Great Sage preaches that after enjoying sensual pleasures,
a human being should firmly resolve in his thought, word and deed to empty
his unconscious state of state of mind from the thought of these pleasures. He is to
replace these thought with the conscious thought of renunciation. What
the Great Sage preaches is that a person is to entertain thought of
renunciation and absence of the effect attraction in conscious state of state of mind . He is not to entertain thought of
renunciation of the physical elements of his body. The Great Sage does not
preach suppression and oppression of sense organs or relinquishment of a
human being’s biological necessities and needs. He preaches that the
thought of temptation is to be stopped after its fulfillment. This thought
does not reside in the sense organs but is domiciled in the human
being’s formless unconscious state of state of mind . It dwells in the formless, which is a
delicate matter. This thought flowers in the subtle sub-conscious state of
state of mind . In
this section the Great Sage reveals to the disciple the primary and
fundamental knowledge of the conscious state of state of mind . The disciple is to
practice and not to be under the effect of attraction
this knowledge daily till he reaches the transcendental super-conscious
state called Samadhi. There after, the disciple is to scrupulously follow
this doctrine spiritual knowledge of the state of mind as preached by the Great
Sage. Is it not judicious to refrain from the
performance of bad deeds and abstain from the enjoyment of sensual
pleasures? Whatever work a human being consciously does in the present, he
does it as per the inclinations and natural tendencies of his conscious
state of state of mind . The conscious state of state of mind will not do the work, which it regards and
considers as evil or sinful. It is impossible for the conscious state of
state of mind to do
such a work. If feeling of such an evil tendency does crop up in the
conscious state of state of mind , the feeling becomes virtue to the state
of mind ’s natural
inclination. Thus it becomes virtuous even if the unconscious state of
state of mind thought
considers it vice. Similarly pious work performed with evil thought is
always considered vice by unconscious state of state of mind . If the
state of mind at the time of
killing a living being considers that it is a virtue and thinks about the
killing consciously, then the killing is not sin. If the feeling of sin is
consciously experienced at the time of killing that living being, then the
killing becomes a pious deed. Whatever virtuous or vice labeled karma
action or deed one does for the welfare of others and not for one’s
self, is considered a pious deed by conscious state of state of mind . Really it remains a
pious deed in conscious state of state of mind even if the prevailing customs and traditions
and religion regard it as sinful. Which actions and deeds are pious and
which are sinful considered by conscious state of mind or self-ego is a moot
question. Human being has gathered on the upper layer of his state of mind called
unconscious state of state of mind , the dust of his past and the dust of contemplated future
actions relating to lust, attachment and aversions. As such whatever the
unconscious state of state of mind thinks and whatever it is inclined towards pure thinking
constitutes false thought and is a delusion. When a human being
consciously keeps aside the flow of sinful thought and learns the
technique of living and working in the present, his conscious state of
state of mind ,
automatically leads him to perform pious deeds. Diverting the thought from the conscious state of state of mind and directing them towards the performance of
noble deeds and actions unconsciously according to the religious and
social practices is not really a pious act. In this way human being writes
an account of his good and bad deeds in his conscious state of state of
mind . Undergoing the
consequences of one’s result oriented physical karma actions does not in
conscious state of state of mind result in sowing the seeds of karma action. The seed of
karma action is sown unconsciously by the occurrence and recurrence of
good and bad thought in the unconscious state of state of mind . If a human being unconsciously and much
against his natural bent of state of mind and inclinations, performs any deed
according to the prevailing social and religious requirements and as a
matter of habit, his entire karma action is sinful. This is because he
wants to sow the seeds, which in his future lives, will sprout and flower
and bring him merit and happiness. But entertaining such a thought is not
only deluding oneself but also causing distress to one’s psyche. Many
Americans, unconsciously and as a matter of habit, think that there are
germs in water. Hence they sterilize the water before drinking it. Really
when they drink un-sterilized water, they fall ill. But same impure water
drinking to many Indian consciously do not effect, as they have no such
thought at time of drinking impure water. Great Sage has not mentioned about God
realization and vision of God so for that is the aim of meditation and
yoga. It is for this reason that the meditation and yoga technique of the
Great Sage is unique. It is a unique exposition on God-realization and
union with God. Guru gives no indication about God-realization in the
beginning. He keeps the aspirant free from the bindings of chores,
chanting of hymns, doing any worship, undertaking any ritualistic
practices or prostrating in front of any god or goddess or prophet. In
case an aspirant has any inclination and desire and has belief in any
ritualistic practice and feels happy doing that, he is most welcome to
satisfy his inclinations. But in case, the conscious state of state of
mind of an aspirant
has no natural inclination towards undertaking such a practice and not to
be under the effect of attraction , the Great
Sage relieves him from his obligations. He says that no practice and not
to be under the effect of attraction is to be
carried on under any duress and compulsion. The Great Sage tells the
aspirant that the road is long and the path tortuous. It is difficult to
comprehend the direction, which the road may take. After attaining
complete spiritual knowledge about the path and its direction and after
practicing how to tread on it, the aspirant is to concentrate on obtaining
spiritual knowledge of God realization, when he comes in the proximity of
his destination. Stopping the flow of thought is
meditation and yoga. Halting the flow of thought and liberating them from
the enjoyment of worldly pleasures are necessary website page s for making practice
and not to be under the effect of attraction
towards the renunciation of these thoughts. A disciple is to enter the
state of renunciation by stopping the flow of thought through sustained
and repeated practice and not to be under the effect of attraction . The
practice and not to be under the effect of attraction to end the flow of
thought and
accomplish renunciation is to be undertaken simultaneously and resolutely.
