of original yoga thesis 4. Why cannot one
perceive about one’s own
essence of interior soul or conscious state of mind? The process of thinking of
unconscious state of mind comprises having a glimpse of past and future
form
subjects or objects or remembering karma actions of conscious state of
mind and
keeping it stored in one's memory. In order to perceive, it is essential to
have a subject or object of matter world. It is also essential to put the
thought of subject in a proper form. The essence of interior soul or
conscious state of mind is formless. It has no form. Neither it can be chained
to any form. The essence of interior soul or conscious state of mind that is its true
outer part is eternal. Hence it has neither a past nor a future. It has
only a present and it lives in the present moment forever. As such, it is
not possible to think about the essence of interior soul or conscious
state of mind with
the help of person thinking process. Consciousness about the
essence of interior soul can, however, is experienced only in the present in
conscious state of mind
in Samadhi state. Why cannot the presence of the essence
of interior soul or conscious state of mind felt during the flow of
thought in the
unconscious state of mind? Spiritual Knowledge of conscious state of
mind is like a vast ocean and
the expanse of knowledge is almost endless. It is not possible to have
consciousness of complete spiritual knowledge on any subject. Wherever the
conscious state of mind directs its concentration, the spiritual knowledge and
consciousness of that subject enter the conscious state of mind. Rest of the spiritual
knowledge keeps on sleeping in a state of rest in mind. The resting place of the
essence of interior soul is formless. It gives insight vision in the present. On
the other hand the resting place of thought has a form. It gives a
glimpse of the past form or the imaginary glimpse of the future form. As
such
consciousness of
essence of interior soul and
information knowledge of form of interior soul or conscious state of mind cannot be experienced and felt
at a time when
that are in different situation
,cannot be experience at a time
and in one single time. Hence the there is flow of thought in the unconscious state of mind. Similarly the
unconscious state of mind or matter world cannot be felt during Samadhi in
conscious state of mind. At the time when the unconscious state
of mind
is clouded with thought what does the essence of interior soul feel? When the mind is over burdened with
thought, the
attention of the
essence of interior soul is focused on the
form of material world thought.
There it takes a glimpse of the past form or the future imaginary form
thought. If the unconscious state of mind tries to witness part of the
interior conscious state of mind, which is formless and is in the present state, it fails.
It regards the thought process of form as the essence of interior soul or
conscious state of mind. This is because it is the essence of interior
soul that is the
visionary of the past form and the future form or one can say that this
condition resembles the condition of one who looks at its own
eye through which it is also looking at a particulars form of natural world. Cannot the mind grasp and comprehend
the present state of the material world? Yes, it can but for this purpose
the flow of thought has to be brought out of the past form or the future
form into the present form. It is possible only when the flow of
thought is halted. Patanjali calls the effort to bring out
the unconscious state of mind from out of the past form or the future imaginative
form and into the present form state of essence of nature and concentrate in
the essence of interior soul and Interior essence of God in
conscious state of mind. What is the form of the material form
in the present moment? When the unconscious state of mind halts the flow of
thought and puts his concentration and consciousness into any particulars
subject or objects, unconscious state of mind disappear and the conscious
state of mind fail
to see any form or any thought. Or we may say the interior subtle of form is
felt and it is really formless. The true formless insight vision of
material things is felt from which those material things have grown. The
interior formless form of material things is felt or realized. It can be
said that nothing is visible except the formless form of conscious state
of mind
feels that it is the same formless cosmic power, which is operative in
all essence of nature of universe. essence of interior soul or conscious
state of mind is
the radiant outgoing is felt or realized. Really the formless cosmic
power of conscious state of mind is asleep inside in seed form. On the outer
side the formless cosmic power is playing hide and seek in the form of
smoke in essence of nature of universe. Are the form of material things in
universe untrue? The formless
cosmic power stock that is asleep inside the essence of interior
soul is
called Interior essence of God . The external power reservoir is a reflection
and insight vision of the internal power reservoir. The internal power
reservoir is a spectator of the external power reservoir. Essence of
conscious state of mind is the medium through which the insight vision
is realized.
Interior essence of God is the creator and keeps on visioning its creations.
The external power reservoir, which is destructible, keeps on changing
its form every moment and giving its insight vision according to the
needs and deeds of different embodied essence of interior soul in
conscious state of mind.
Really five subtle properties of matter are born out of a single cosmic
power of core essence of nature and out of these five subtle
properties emerges five material properties and its endless form in
universe. Changes every moment continue in subtle and material elements as
well as in outer animate and inanimate beings form and cosmic law of
interior core essence of nature governs it. All have the same
attributes and the same formless, which the interior cosmic power reservoir
has. It is called interior formless essence of nature. Interior formless core essence of
nature
is not subject to destruction. Its true formless is eternal. Cosmic law
binds it. Different embodied essence of interior souls keep on having a vision
of endless subtle and matter states of essence of nature according to
their deeds and material inclinations and cosmic laws of essence of nature.
The nature states are changing but it cannot go out of jurisdiction of its
interior formless core essence of nature. The cosmic knowledge of
interior essence of nature embodies the spiritual knowledge of Interior
essence of God . It
is only after self -realization that the cosmic principles can be felt or
realized in individual life and one can become conscious of it.
Patanjali calls stopping the wheel of imagination and the vagaries of mind
with deliberate and conscious efforts and realization of conscious state
of mindless and then Interior essence of God realization and realization
of spiritual knowledge of various states of essence of nature, meditation and
yoga. Why should a person not perceive?
Human life has developed the art of seeing the past form and future
imaginative form in the present form of nature states. He has learnt the
art of the foreseeing the future form. This he has done with the help of
the sound of speech and intellectual thinking process. Because of this
art, person has become the master of the universe and its other
inhabitants. On the other hand the path leading the Interior essence of
God
realization and attainment of true knowledge is closed due to this untrue
information knowledge for human beings. A person who wishes to tread
on its path in search of insight vision of Interior essence of God with the
help of his intellect and thinking process also carry clouds of thought
of the future form or the past form. The result is that he remains
bereft of the bliss, which he would have got from nature in the
enjoyment of the present form. He always thinks of the unborn tomorrows
or the dead yesterdays. Hence he is not able to enjoy the today of his
life. Why does a person perceive? Human
being’s visualization of future, which is in the present and his
visualization of the unhappiness or his past false that does not get
materialize, makes him unhappy and restless. When events do not happen
according to his future thought planning, he gets all the more upset. He
is always in the search of happiness and finding to evade
unhappiness. Notwithstanding his own faulty thinking, person is
always in search of thought of happiness. He is always in search of
thought of ways and means to evade being a prey to unhappiness. For this
purpose he is always exerting his mind so that he not only gets the cakes
but eats them too. He does not want any pain, misery or sorrow or any
unhappiness to come near him. Why does not a individual get
happiness and why does he evade unhappiness? Happiness and unhappiness are
beyond the bounds of thought. Both are felt in the past or future
thought. In fact a person endowed with knowledge has so much
consciousness of true knowledge in the present that happiness and unhappiness
become meaningless for him. Such a person attains supreme peace,
calmness and even forgets to enjoy the fruits of his actions. He even
undergoes unhappiness with a smile on his face. A thinking individual in
his unconscious state of mind is always pained at the thought of sorrow. In fact
the mind feels pain because of his thinking. In his unconscious state of
mind, he
does not want to give up his thinking. The result is that a pain haunts
him all the more. An ignorant person in his unconscious state of mind keeps on
searching for happiness. He keeps on weaving various schemes to get him
self rid of his sorrow with make him unhappiness. This effort makes him
all the unhappier. The more intelligent the
person
is
the more thought he will have in his mind. His mind will always remain in
a state of restlessness bringing him unhappiness according to the
intensity of the thought. Happiness is not related to achieving worldly
wealth, acquiring status, hoarding wealth, having a high position or
having a vast business empire. These issues bring him thought, which are
not directly related to happiness and unhappiness. As such one finds very
big businessmen, officers, administrators, religious leaders unhappier
than the people who do not have any position and worldly power. Whether
these big shots admit or not, but in their hearts of hearts, they know
they are unhappy. Their very conscious knows about it. On the contrary,
when a individual attains self-realization he loses interest in all
material and worldly possessions, power and self-ego and attachment and
craving. He begins to feel that they are all meaningless. How do thought of mind torment? A
person keeps on thinking more of those material things and living being
which give him greater pleasure. He keeps on contemplating all ways and
means to derive still greater pleasure from the organs of senses. He keeps
on contemplating on how to obtain these material things for future
enjoyment also. He also contemplates on how to prevent the snatching away
of these material things from him. These thought are always painful and
tend to create agony in his mind. This in turn makes him restless.
Imaginary thought and temptations are the form of desires. But when the
time comes one gets pleasures and pain according to the results of one's
past karma actions and deeds. In the future if a person’s desires and
craving are not fulfilled and satiated, the person undergoes tremendous
pain while he is contemplating about them. When desires and craving do get
fulfilled and satiated due to some good deeds, individual starts
contemplating about bigger desires and bigger craving. At the end he
undergoes unbearable pain because desires never get fulfilled. They never
get satiated. Desires lead to further desires and the cycle continues
unending and unabated. A individual that resorts to watching
enmity, hatred, and slander and thinking to avoid those gross things and
beings, are liable to cause pain in unconscious state of mind. He thinks of
innumerable ways to keep him far away from the pain of such gross things
and beings. At the proper time, however, and according to the law of
action and reaction, he is to reap the fruits of his actions. At that time
he does not wish to accept painful results. He cannot avoid, no matter how
had he tries, the painful results which his own actions in the past and
brought upon him. Till the end he keeps on experiencing the torment of
these thought, which keep on increasing their hold on him. Thought of
attachments and aversions, loss and pain, desires temptations, maligning
others and having enmity and how to get rid of them, continue to torture
him. All these create turbulence in his mind till the end of his life.
Halting thought pertaining the to attachments and aversions, desires,
temptation, craving, slander and enmity by sustained, conscious and
careful efforts and getting rid of them is called meditation and yoga by
the great sage Patanjali. How to get rid of thought of mind? The
preceptor describes in detail in Book Meditation Practice of Patanjali
Meditation , the method to obtain this knowledge as also the
method to obtain spiritual knowledge about the mind, method of obtaining
spiritual knowledge about essence of interior soul, method of obtaining
spiritual knowledge about Interior essence of God and finally the method of
obtaining spiritual knowledge of the universe. Such knowledge and
consciousness comes after the experience of torture that originate from
the agonizing thought.
